Así es, hay nuevo disco del año. Metallica, los reyes del heavy, la banda que todos odiaron porque se cortaron el pelo/se vendieron al sistema/se pelearon con Napster/se cruzaron de vereda/no vinieron porque no les daba el presupuesto, sacó un nuevo disco... y encima se tomaron el atrevimiento de hacerlo bueno!
Si quieren un buen análisis musical del disco, recomiendo el de mein Freund Walrus. En la perra vida voy a hacer algo similar (no me da el oído, vithe?), pero debo reconocer que coincido con casi todo lo que dice. Yo voy a la parte externa.
La banda venía mal, mal, mal. Kirk no hacía solos ni nada similar, James desafinaba-tomaba-entraba en rehabilitación-volvía a tomar, Lars se dedicó a los clasificados (cambio batería por set de cocina, pago diferencia) y Jason se tomó el palo, su reemplazo se movía más de lo que tocaba... El "Load" y "Reload" eran buenos discos de rock... pero el fan "heavy-metal-cabeza-de-tacho" no quiere eso, quiere ochocientas versiones del mismo disco ("Master of Puppets", de ser posible). Frente a eso, Metallica contra-atacó poniéndole violines a sus grandes clásicos (algo que le dio un poco de aire) y sacando un disco que era más un híbrido ramonero que otra cosa (un buen auto-puñetazo en el estómago). Entonces, cuando todos pensaban que estaban acabados y que se iban a convertir en una banda tributo a sí misma (pero sin la frescura de AC/DC o los mismísimos Monchos), sacan esto. No será el éxito que fue "Black Album", pero creo que los fans de antes deberían pegarle una oída sin prejuicios, sin "pero no es lo mismo" y creo que se van a enamorar (o volver a) de los Cuatro Jinetes...

Como dije en mi blog -gracias por la cita- me parece un híbrido entre ...and justice for all y St. Anger. Aunque este disco quizás sea un poco menos intrincado que los dos mencionados, tira más a AJFA por lo riffero y por el largo de sus canciones, y a St. AscoAnger un poco por el sonido sucio.
